A Mid-Winter Swim August 29, 2010

Took a swim today in the grand Pacific. Made possible or rather, desirable, by the emergence of the sun for a few hours. Officially the water temperature was 16C/61F. The air temperature was 15C/59F. For perspective, 61F is the water temperature in Southern New England during the first two weeks of June. Chilly for sure, but not prohibitive. Of greater concern were the powerful winter waves! The trick is to get far enough into the water so the waves don’t knock you down. In all both exhilarating and refreshing. Not too shabby for winter!!
